Timeframe conditional on a US attack on IranSaid again 18×
Verdict Partly
The US attacked Iran in Jun 2025 and again from Feb 2026. Russia and China responded diplomatically: they condemned the strikes, called UN Security Council meetings, vetoed a Hormuz resolution, and China co-proposed a peace plan. The US alleges they shared intelligence and satellite imagery. Neither intervened militarily, and Trump said in Jul 2026 that both pledged not to arm Iran.
Israel attacked Iran on 13 June 2025 and the US joined with strikes on 22 June 2025, then a joint war began 28 Feb 2026. That part happened. It has not become World War III: Russia and China have stayed out of direct combat.
Escalation happened: the June 2025 Israel-Iran 12-day war with US strikes, then the US-Israel war on Iran from 2026-02-28, with Iranian strikes on Gulf states, still unresolved in Oct 2026. No world war has followed, so the 'beginning of WWIII' part is unconfirmed.
The Middle East war has spread regionally to Israel, Lebanon, the Gulf states, Yemen and Iraq, Pakistani troops have deployed to Saudi Arabia, and the world has suffered an energy shock. Negotiated truces in April and June 2026 collapsed. But the war has not engulfed the whole world.
'Complete and utter destruction of the world we live in' and 'nothing will ever be the same' are too vague to test. The world order is strained by the 2026 Iran war but still stands.
As of Oct 2026 there has been no East Asian war. There are ongoing China-Japan frictions (Japanese jet scrambles, Senkaku coast guard incidents) and North Korean missile launches, but no conflict involving Japan or South Korea has broken out.
As of Oct 2026 there is no civil war in the US; unrest has been limited to protests and localized clashes (e.g., LA anti-ICE unrest June 2025). The 2028 election has not occurred.
The 2028 election has not happened yet. Trump keeps teasing a run ('I'd love to run, but the law is very strong,' Aug 2026), but the 22nd Amendment bars it and he has ruled out a VP workaround.
Direct US-Iran conflict happened: strikes in June 2025, and a war from 28 Feb 2026 that is still ongoing. It caused the largest oil-supply disruption on record and global market turmoil, but 'dragging the whole world down' overstates it so far.
Trump has been in office continuously since Jan 20, 2025, and his term runs to Jan 2029, so whether he serves a normal four-year term cannot be judged yet. The 'ambition to be king' part cannot be verified.
US tariffs on Canada and Mexico took effect on March 4, 2025 after being announced on Feb 1. The 25% steel/aluminum tariffs (March 12) and the 'Liberation Day' tariffs on the EU (April 2, 2025) followed, and the EU prepared retaliation before the July 2025 deal. All of this fell within 2025.
